The Health Behaviour Unit is a Cancer Research UK
funded department attached to the department of
Public Health and Epidemiology at University
College London (UCL). We carry out research into
different aspects of public health, including the
prevention of childhood obesity.
We are in the first stages of an exciting twin study called GEMINI where we are hoping to explore early childhood experiences. We are interested in twins as they will enable us to determine how both genetic and environmental factors contribute to a child’s growth and development.
In order to get the most accurate results possible we are currently developing several age specific questionnaires for twins 0-2 years old and this is where we hope you will be able to help us. Over the next few months we are keen to get feedback from families with both identical and non- identical twins of 0-2 years old, to see what they think of the content of the questionnaires. Your answers will also help further our understanding of early patterns in activity, eating (i.e. breast feeding, bottle feeding and weaning), health, growth and development and parents’ attitudes towards health and feeding. They will also help us improve the questionnaire for use in the later stages of the study.
If you are interested in taking part we would be delighted to hear from you. You can contact me via email at k.austin@public-health.ucl.ac.uk. All contact information we do collect will be held completely confidential and any questionnaires that are filled in will also be anonymous.
If you have any questions or would like more information please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you for any help you can give, we are looking forward to hearing from you.
